The accident made it impossible for her to compete and Tonya Harding won the Championship Ladies event. Shortly after that, it was discovered that Tonya Harding had been part of an alleged conspiracy to hurt Nancy. Tonya was banned from U.S. Figure Skating for life.

Surya Bonaly Backflip Video
French figure skater, Surya Bonaly, is famous for doing a backflip on the ice and landing it on one foot. A backflip is an illegal figure skating move, but Surya Bonaly did that move in the 1998 Olympics since she knew she couldn't medal, but she wanted to be remembered. Since then, Surya's backflip on the ice is considered her trademark move. This is a short video clip showing Surya Bonaly doing that trademark backflip.
Ice Skating Institute
ISI, Ice Skating Institute, is for recreational skaters. There are test levels and competitions that are rewarding for all participants. All skaters win medals, trophies, or ribbons at ISI events. There are freestyle, spotlight, interpretive, footwork, and other fun events at ISI competitions. Many ice skaters begin skating lessons in ISI programs and eventually move on to USFS programs as they become more serious about figure skating.

Ice Light Boot Gloves
Ice Light Boot Gloves are zippered gloves that cover ice skate boots and help keep feet warm.
Swizzles
Put your blades together with heels touching in a "V" position. On inside edges, push outward, then inward to make your toes touch. You should make the shape of a fish. You have now done a forward swizzle or scissors. Repeat by doing several in a row. Now try going backward. Reverse the process, starting with your toes together on inside edges, move outward, then inward so your heels touch again. As you make the move, make sure to bend your knees. This is a great exercise to get knees going.
Three Turn
A three turn is a one foot ice skating turn from either forward to backward or backward to forward, where a skater makes the pattern of a "3" as he or she turns.
Edge
Skates have inside edges and outside edges. Stand with your feet parallel. Press your feet to the outside. These are outside edges. Now press your feet to the inside. You are on inside edges. When you glide on one foot, you must either be on an outside or an inside edge.
Triple Axel
The triple axel is a figure skaitng jump. It is the only triple jump that takes off from a forward outside edge.
